Game AppearancesEdit

Super Smash Bros. BrawlEdit

Kirby is a veteran in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He is a floaty character with multiple jumps.

Subspace EmissaryEdit

Kirby fought Mario in an exhibition match at a Midair Stadium, spectated by Princesses Peach and Zelda. The loser was trophified so the winner revived him. Then red clouds appeared as the ominous Halberd dropped Subspace Bugs forming Primids. Zelda teleported onto the stage and Peach glided down with her parasol. The four fought swarms of Primids. Mario was hit by a cannonball and sent flying into the sky. Petey Piranha appeared and trapped Peach and Zelda in cages.

Peach rescuedEdit

Kirby defeated Petey and rescued Peach, but Wario dropped in with a Dark Cannon. Noticing a helpless Zelda struggling to get out from under her wrecked cage, Wario shot at Zelda and took off with her trophy. Kirby and Peach ran after him, but Kirby noticed a Subspace Bomb about to explode. They escaped the explosion by Warp Star. The Halberd was in pursuit of the Warp Star. The Halberd bumped into them, and they landed on the ship. Kirby and Peach witnessed Fox McCloud's Arwing dodging many shots, but a mechanical arm hit the Arwing, and it went down, brushing Kirby and Peach overboard. After going through a series of cliffs, Kirby notices something and ran ahead, leaving Peach behind unaware of Bowser coming to trophify her. After Link and Yoshi defeated Mario and Pit, Kirby's rival King Dedede came in Wario's stolen cargo cart to take the trophified losers away. But Kirby cut off the cart's arms and revived Mario and Pit. Pit shot an arrow at the cart and the five heroes chased him to a cave. After traversing the cave, they found Bowser running away with Zelda's trophy. Mario tried to punch Bowser but he held up Zelda, forcing Mario to miss in hesitance. Pit shot Bowser off the cliff, knocking a Dedede badge off of Zelda's arm. But Bowser escaped on the Koopa Clown Car. Kirby looked at the badge and ate it.

Story remergeEdit

Kirby and friends chased after the Ancient Minister to stop him from detonating a Subspace Bomb, but failed. They later helped a group consisting of Marth, Ike, Lucas, the Pokémon Trainer, and the Ice Climbers defeat a swarm of Primids. They then saw the Angel-Island-like Isle of the Ancients engulfed in a Subspace orb. The Halberd, now retaken by Meta Knight and his crew of Lucario, Solid Snake, Peach, Zelda, Mr. Game & Watch, Fox McCloud and Falco Lombardi landed near Kirby's group, followed by the Falcon Flyer piloted by Captain Falcon and his crew of Samus Aran, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Captain Olimar, and R.O.B. They teamed up to take on Bowser and Ganondorf's Subspace Gunship that came out of the orb. Ganon noticed Meta Knight's Halberd and ordered the weapons to fire on it. It was a direct hit and the Halberd was destroyed. But the heroes had their own smaller ships (the ones who didn't used the Falcon Flyer). Kirby sliced through the gunship, forcing Ganon and Bowser to retreat into Subspace. Kirby's dragoon and the other ships followed. Kirby and the Nintendo heroes traveled through Subspace until they encountered Tabuu, who spread his wings and trophified everyone including Kirby. Luckily, the badge Kirby swallowed earlier revived him and he set out to revive Peach, Zelda, Meta Knight, Lucario, Link, Yoshi, R.O.B., the Ice Climbers, Snake, and Wario. Kirby then reunited with Dedede, who revived everyone else with Luigi and Ness. They headed toward the Great Maze, but Wario came to mess with Dedede. Wario raced them on his motorbike into the Great Maze.

Sonic appearsEdit

After Kirby and the Nintendo heroes completed the Great Maze, they encountered Tabuu who spread his wings for preparation of everyone's trophification, but Sonic the Hedgehog arrived to break Tabuu's wings and taunted him. Sonic then helped Kirby and the Nintendo cast defeat Tabuu and restore the World of Trophies. They then stared at the spot where the Isle of Ancients used to be.

Special MovesEdit

  • Standard - Inhale
Kirby inhales the opponent and copies his/her standard special (e.g. Sonic's Homing Attack). If Kirby taunts or gets KOed, the ability is lost.
  • Side - Hammer
Kirby pulls out a Dedede styled hammer and hits the opponent.
  • Up - Fury Cutter
Kirby jumps up and slams a magic sword on the ground. Upon landing, the blade emits a projectile wave.
  • Down - Stone
Kirby turns into a solid object that can absorb damage. If used in the air, Kirby rockets to the ground, inflicting a good amount of damage to opponents.
  • Final Smash - Cook Kirby
Kirby puts on a chef's hat and boils nearby opponents in a pot. Afterwards, the pot explodes sending opponents flying and items will drop from it.

TierEdit

Matchup with SonicEdit

Kirby is just placed two spots higher than Sonic, but they are evenly match. When Kirby inhales, run away from him. Some Kirby players have a tendency to inhale Sonic and walk off the stage with him still in his mouth. Sonic would be KOed a second before Kirby when that happens. If Kirby spits you out in the fall, Spring Jump back to the stage. Kirby would more likely to copy Sonic than to walk off the stage. When Kirby copies Sonic, he gains Sonic's quills and Homing Attack. Try not to Homing Attack at Kirby while he's using the Homing Attack at you, because they will ascend in the Homing joust and eventually get star KO'ed. When Kirby gets a Smash Ball, stay away from him. If Sonic is in the radius when Kirby uses his Final Smash, he'll get cooked and sent flying. Luckily food comes out of the pot, so use the food to heal and the Superspicy Curry to set Sonic on fire and make him faster. Burn Kirby with the flames you're shooting out to rack up some damage. If Sonic gets the Smash Ball, use Super Sonic to send Kirby flying on contact.

Green Hill ZoneEdit

In Green Hill Zone, Kirby can jump across the stage without the aid of Fury Cutter and end up at the edge of the screen. When the stage crumbles, Kirby can recover from offscreen in just two jumps. The checkpoint can knock him halfway across the stage.

TrophiesEdit

Name Image Game Description
Kirby Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • GB - Kirby's Dream Land
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
A round, pink ball of cuteness from a distant, peaceful star. He can swallow anything with his gigantic mouth, then spit it out as ammo. He has the handy ability to copy powers and use them as his own. His hovering ability lets him fly through the air with ease. He's so round, he's sometimes treated like a ball.
Cook Kirby Cook Kirby - Brawl Trophy Kirby in chef's garb. When Kirby throws on his chef's hat, a giant pot appears in the center of the screen. Characters, items, and even long-distance weapons are sucked into the pot. Once they've simmered a bit, food items equal to the number of things in the pot appear. Characters in the mix get blasted straight up out of the pot.
Beam Kirby Beam Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • NES - Kirby's Adventure
  • NDS - Kirby: Squeak Squad
Kirby in a jester cap...and a supercute Kirby at that. Beam Kirby features a Beam ability, acquired by inhaling Waddle Doo, that allows him to shoot a whip-like beam at his enemies. With a wide attack range, this ability is extremely easy to use, especially for taking out enemies in bunches. In Kirby Super Star/Kirby's Fun Pak, this beam can also be charged and fired.
Needle Kirby Needle Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • NES - Kirby's Adventure
  • NDS - Kirby's Canvas Curse
A Kirby ability made when Kirby inhales a spiked enemy. When attacking, the needles on Needle Kirby 's body extend, giving him a porcupine-like look. This ability provides both offensive and defensive measures against nearby enemies. Plus, needles which extend on Kirby's underside when jumping eliminate any threats on landing.
Sword Kirby Sword Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • NES - Kirby's Adventure
  • NDS - Kirby: Squeak Squad
A Kirby ability made when Kirby inhales a sword-wielding foe or a sword itself. Doing so provides Kirby with a rapid sword slash, a jumping sword spin, or even the energy-beam blast of the Final Sword. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that this is the #1 Copy Ability in terms of accessibility.
Sleep Kirby Sleep Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • NES - Kirby's Adventure
  • NDS - Kirby: Squeak Squad
Kirby after he copies the ability to sleep peacefully. Kirby takes on this form when he inhales Noddy or other such enemies. Kirby cannot move at all while sleeping, so extra care should be taken not to use this ability when enemies are near. Kirby, in his slumber, tends to drool, and in his panicked awakening, isn't it cute how he forgets to wipe off the drool?
Wing Kirby Wing Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
  • GCN - Kirby's Air Ride
Kirby when he inhales a winged enemy and copies its flying ability. This ability can be used to proceed through strong winds that would otherwise be too tough to overcome. Wing Kirby can also perform a plethora of attack moves, such as the Bomber Head, where Kirby dive-bombs onto enemy heads.
Fighter Kirby Fighter Kirby - Brawl Trophy
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
  • GBA - Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
Kirby when he is skilled in martial arts, especially close-quarters combat. Inhaling brawny challengers like Knuckle Joe will transform Kirby, allowing him to use a bunch of fight moves like Rising Break, the heroic uppercut. His Mega Power Shot in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, which used charged energy to take out faraway enemies, is another Fighter Kirby highlight.
Fire Kirby 90px
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
  • NDS - Kirby: Canvas Curse
Kirby when he inhales an enemy who uses fire. Shooting fire from his mouth, Fire Kirby can cook enemies from afar. This ability also allows Kirby to light explosive blocks, fuses, and so on. In Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Fire Kirby can roll his burning body into enemies as an attack move.
Ice Kirby 90px
  • NES - Kirby's Adventure
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
Kirby when he copies an enemy with chilly abilities. Ice Kirby can blow an icy wind from his mouth and freeze enemies solid. These frozen enemies can then be knocked into other enemies as an additional means of attack. These blocks are not only effective against enemies but can also be used on terrain such as magma or water.
Plasma Kirby 90px
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
  • GCN - Kirby's Air Ride
Kirby when he inhales Plasma Wisps, which glow with a neon green flame. Plasma Kirby can charge the plasma strength up to a maximum level of 5. In Kirby Super Star/Kirby's Fun Pak, your attack—-be it a Plasma Laser or a Plasma Wave Cannon—-varies with the length of time you charge it.
Tornado Kirby 90px
  • NES - Kirby's Adventure
  • GCN - Kirby's Air Ride
Kirby when he inhales enemies that fly around like twisters through the sky. When in tornado form, Kirby can spin freely through the air for short amounts of time, clearing out groups of enemies. Tornado Kirby will continue spinning and bouncing violently off of obstacles until he comes to a stop. One drawback of Tornado Kirby is the control difficulty.

Name Image Game(s) Description
Kirby
  • GB - Kirby's Dream Land
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
Round little Kirby lives on the peaceful Planet Popstar, in Dream Land. He can inhale things with his big mouth, either copying their abilities or spitting them out again. In Smash Bros., Kirby can inhale opponents and copy their standard specials. He gets launched easily but recovers well.
Kirby (Alt.)
  • GB - Kirby's Dream Land
  • SNES - Kirby Super Star
Holding the special button and left or right will charge up Kirby's Hammer Flip attack. Charging too long hurts Kirby! The hammer strikes twice in the air, but landing the single blow on the ground is more powerful. Kirby's up special Final Cutter slices up and down, firing a shock wave upon landing.
Ultra Sword For Kirby's Final Smash, he swings a sword that's waaay bigger than he is. If the first swing hits, he'll keep going with a combo of lightning-fast slices, dealing tons of damage. For the last swing, the sword grows even larger and launches any victims. Make sure that first swing hits, though, or nothing else will happen!

Rematch with SonicEdit

Windy HillEdit

On Windy Hill, Kirby could jump across under the stage but cannot get back up. He can't make it back to the stage from below the screen. The right spring bounces him close to the center of the wheel. The left spring can let him land on the upper platform without midair jumps.

QuotesEdit

"Hi!" - Up taunt.
